GENERAL STATEMENT:

Under the direct supervision the Right of Way (R.O.W.) Crew Leader and/or their designated representative, performs general skilled maintenance activities and functions. A R.O.W. employee will be responsible for all maintenance aspects of the R.O.W.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the Maintenance of all R.O.W. within the City limits.
  • Above includes mowing, shredding, weed eating, tree trimming, mechanical blowing/physical sweeping of sidewalks, trash collection and beautification.
  • Must be able to operate mowing and shredding equipment.
  • Will operate company vehicles and is responsible for the appearance, maintenance, organization, tool inventory and safe operation of City vehicles.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge or training of the methods, tools and equipment of assigned trade area.

  • Working knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment of other maintenance functions.

  • Ability to maintain records on materials needed and used.

  • General operational knowledge, experience, and/or familiarity with all Public Works machinery and equipment.

  • Written Communication/Language Skills Able to read and interpret written information. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

  • Organizational Support Follows policies and procedures.

  • Judgment Includes appropriate people in decision-making process.

  • Planning/Organizing Uses time efficiently.

  • Meets productivity standards; completes work in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • High School Diplomas or G.E.D.

  • Reliable transportation, and living with 45 minutes of the Public Works Department to be called in after work hours in emergency situations.

  • Valid Texas State Driver's License

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
